The buzz around the recent awards show has been intense, especially after host Geoff Keighley posted an enigmatic photo of a strange statue. The mystery is finally answered. Larian Studios is developing a fresh Divinity game.
Announced as Divinity, the game was presented with a daring trailer that included striking imagery, from a burning man to an orgy and the very descent into chaos.
A Different Direction
Anyone anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, prepare for a surprise. Larian warned that a follow-up to its venerated RPGs is not on the cards right now.
However, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a next chapter of the core franchise. This phrasing hints that the team might be crafting a faster-paced experience rather than another turn-based title. At this moment, it remains theory, as only a announcement clip is available.
The Legacy of Divinity
The Divinity series is widely praised and many say it kicked off the contemporary revival of complex computer role-playing games. These games are celebrated for rich lore, choice-driven narratives, and flexible progression—elements that subsequently reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its universe is traditional swords and sorcery, what truly sets Divinity apart is the remarkable agency granted to the player.
While numerous modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is brimming with niche playthroughs you can achieve by choosing a distinct build with a unique decision path.
The series is also notoriously permissive, enabling players to experiment both in story and combat. Most missions can be approached in a variety of manners, often in unexpected fashion.
- You might find an answer because you recalled something a dog told you.
- Or, you could defeat a foe by moving environmental hazards in a inventive way.
A New Chapter Begins
It is precisely these elements that have cemented the series to hail games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games of all time. Now, players can get ready for a new entry in this legendary franchise.
